How To Attract Candidates Through Indeed

February 27, 2019

Indeed attracts over 200 million visitors each month worldwide including 19.6 million in the UK with visitors searching for jobs, posting CVs and researching companies.

Indeed attract these candidates to vacancies from employer career sites, recruitment agencies and small businesses direct.  Some job boards still show vacancies on Indeed but this coverage is vastly reduced, for example, CV-Library and Reed no longer have vacancies advertised on Indeed.

Indeed de-duplicate jobs to ensure the Candidate does not see the same job from multiple sources and jobs advertised from the Direct Employers take precedent over Job Boards.

Advertising on Indeed

When advertising vacancies with Indeed you have a few options available.

Non-sponsored Jobs

These job postings are what most recruiters will be used to as they are free to advertise.

They are relevancy based jobs based on the age of the vacancy, location, keywords and salary.  These jobs will fall back and lose visibility as new jobs are added.

Sponsored Jobs

These job postings are paid for on a “Pay per Click” basis and appear in the first 4 and last 2 job slots per page.  The position of these jobs depends on the amount paid, per click through and remain visible and prominent as more jobs are added.

When we speak to customers about Indeed and mention that the sponsored jobs are paid for on a Pay per Click basis, many people have initial concerns of how this works.

  • The higher you bid in relation to other bids, the higher up the pages your vacancy will appear;
  • Lower bids drive traffic but not applications as the jobs are more likely to be shown on lower pages and non-peak;
  • You set a budget and only pay when a candidate clicks to view your job;
  • You decide how much to spend.

Company Page

Candidates also use Indeed when researching companies.  There is no charge to set up your company page and you can use this to build your brand and provide trustworthy and authentic information to candidates.

Indeed rewards you with stars and the more positive reviews you receive, the higher the star rating you will receive improving your visibility.  One you have receives 3 reviews your company page will become visible.

There are many benefits to setting up a company page including:

  • Allowing job seekers who visit your page to learn about all of the jobs you are currently advertising and what you offer your candidates;
  • Giving candidates the opportunity to follow your company and your jobs on Indeed;
  • Linking to your social media pages.

Sourcing CVs

Indeed does have a CV Database where you can search and view CVs across any industry.  The database is sold on a subscription plan with a cost per contact ensuring your investment goes further.

You can make as many searches as you want with the database and then use your contact credits to send personalised messages to candidates looking for their next move.  On average employers receive a 44% total response rate.

Through personalised, quality contact you can earn additional credits for candidates that respond to you.

What else…

At the bottom of Indeed’s homepage, you will see a link to job category trends.  These can be useful to a recruiter and will show you:

  • How many average jobs have been posted that month within the job category – this can give you a good indication of where you need to pitch your bids;
  • The top job titles per click – this will help you when choosing the job title you use for your adverts;
  • The top search terms per click – these should be included in your advert;
  • The top job locations per click – this will help you when grouping jobs in campaigns.
